Mrs. Séraphine Auffrey, 81, of St. Joseph, and formerly of Memramcook West, died Tuesday at Résidence de Notre Dame Sacré Coeur, Dieppe after a lengthy illness.
Born in Pré-d'en-Haut, she was a daughter of the late Dolphé and Leah (Cormier) Richard. Her first husband, Louis Cormier, died in 1943. Her second husband, Albanie Auffrey, died in 1981.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Landry (Zella) of College Bridge, Mrs. Arthur Gautreau (Norma) of Moncton and Sister Irène Cormer NDSC of Baie Ste Anne; five sons, Emerie of Moncton, Herman of Pré-d'en-Haut, Gérald and Claude, both of Waltham, Mass., and Richard of Fredericton; three step-daughters, Mrs. Léonard Léger (Rita), Mrs. Alphonse Cormier (Thérèse) and Mrs. Antoine Cormier (Admee), all of Sommerville, Conn.; two step-sons, Aurèle of Moncton and Alonzo of Memramcook West; two sisters, Mrs. Gilbert Melanson (Marguerite) and Mrs. Dominique Melanson (Irène), both of Pré-d'en-Haut; 44 grand-children, 46 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Léola, and four sons, Raymond, Dosithé, Aldéric and Vital, all died previously.
The body is at Dupuis funeral Home, Memramcook. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Notre Dame de l’Annonciation Roman Catholic Church, Memramcook. Burial will be in Pré-d'en-Haut parish cemetery in the spring.
